Flamenco Guitar Workshop

by Felipe Kunze, Sunday 3rd March 2013

Presented by The Flamenco Centre of Canberra

Chilean born Flamenco guitarist, Felipe Kunze, will visit Canberra to give a workshop in elementary flamenco guitar.

The practical workshop will include a brief introduction to Flamenco's origins, influences and development, but the main focus will be on learning key playing techniques for accompaniment. You'll learn essential exercises and falsetas (melodic variations) that ornament the core of flamenco music.

Felipe Kunze began playing Flamenco guitar at the age of 17, swiftly joining the ranks of the local professional circuit in Chile. His teachers include the international masters: Parrilla de Jerez; Oscar Herrero; Fyty Carrillo; Claudio Villanueva; Carlos ledermann; and Jorge Bravo.

In Australia he has performed extensively and taught workshops in Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide and Melbourne. Currently he is the principal flamenco guitarist in the Diana Reyes Flamenco Studio Dance Company in Sydney.

This workshop will be the first of planned regular workshops in the National Capital, offering Canberra guitarists on-going specialist support and guidance in this wonderfully rewarding art form.
